Technology Aids in Provision of Health Care


Hi Everyone!

I personally believe that technology is helping when it comes to overcoming communication barriers in health care. There are many tools that have been developed through the use of technology that aid the nurse in providing the best care possible for his/her patients. Some of these developments include the Electronic Health Record (EHR), barcode technology for pharmaceuticals/medications, telehealth nursing and Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) usage. Everyone who has access to a computer can access the patient’s files, which decreases communication barriers between health care providers. The use of these tools saves the amount of time it takes to review patient’s files and medications, which leads to better and more time efficient patient care.
