Neglect of Oral Care

The video I have posted is of a pair of dentures that have probably not been cleaned in quite some time. The person who is cleaning them is gagging because the smell of the dentures is so overpowering. In our Nursing Practicum class we had a dentist whom came to speak to us about the importance of oral care for our patients. A nurse should never forget to do oral care, as it is very important to the overall health of the patient. The mouth should also be checked for ulcers, which can be cause by improper fitting dentures.
